The Cultural Greenhouse contains a café, with terrace, a shop, an
auditorium and an exposition area. The wind, the water and the green from
its direct surroundings condition the interior of this pavilion.
The always-present hard winds in this region are used to cool and ventilate the building. The building consists of a heavy half-round wall with glass roofing. By keeping the glass loose from the wall a crevice is created through which the wind can cool the glass. Because of the large mass of the heavy stones from which the wall is built the wall will only heat up slowly. The air that penetrates the pavilion through the narrow openings between the stacked stones will that way stay cool during the day to become warmer closer to the evening. Water that trickles down a wall at the entrance creates, together with plants, a pleasant raised humidity. Finally the trees around the building provide shadow. jv |
