Ken Yeang has been working constantly for fifteen years on a series of
inventive 'bio-climatic' office towers in the quick developing South-Asian
countries. One of his large achievements is being able to integrate his
ecological beginnings in commercial office towers.
Yeang was educated at the Architectural Association in London and received
a PhD at the University of Cambridge for his research into ecological
factors in the developed environment. Since 1976 he is associated with
TR Hamzah in the architectural firm TR Hamzah & Yeang with offices
in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia.
Yeangs designs are based on a coherent theory with respect to ecological
constructing. A profound understanding of the local climate and the local
construction methods is used for developing new building typologies. This
Bio-climatic Architecture connects energy-efficiency to an improvement
of the work- and living circumstances of its users.
