'Martí Quixé' invented breathable food!

On the occasion of the publication of the book 'Trespassers', inspirations for eco-efficient design' by Conny Bakker and Ed van Hinte, Martí Guixé presented his work. His proposals for snacks and food are presented among projects by other designers such as an inflatable building, road asphalt for solar energy accumulation and a hand powered mobile phone.

About Trespassers

Dull utilitarianism and numeric lifecycle comparisons are the issues usually addressed in books on design for sustainability. There is a much lighter side to dealing with environmental problems. It evolves directly from the fun of generating and developing ideas and providing beauty and freshness to our world through designing products and services. The new richly illustrated book, written by Conny Bakker, manager of the theme of sustainability at The Netherlands Design Institute, publicist Ed van Hinte and graphic designer Erik Wong, is a compilation of inspiring projects and ideas, four of which were especially done for the book. They are bound to have implications for sustainable development, despite the fact that this was never a consideration for the designers of some of them.

An inflatable building, road asphalt for solar energy accumulation, a hand powered mobile phone and breathable food are just a few of the numerous examples presented. By their order they illustrate the way in which the book is organized around us humans: city planning and housing, transport, commodities and food. Some presented projects and ideas challenge the paradigms of sustainable correctness. Hence the title: Trespassers.
